Frequently Asked Questions

What About Android?

We are currently developing some Android versions of our CBM apps, but at this time they are only available for IOS. If you would like us to notify you once our CBM apps are available for Android, Cognitive Bias Modification for Android.

What Is Cognitive Bias Modification?

Cognitive Bias Modification (CBM) is a computer based therapy for the treatment of anxiety and addiction disorders. CBM is based on the theory that many psychological disturbances are caused by harmful, unconscious attentional biases. For instance, in a room full of people, a person who experiences social anxiety, will focus on the one person who gave him an awkward look.
Bias Modification works by altering these negative biases in thinking with a series of simple exercises which encourage the user to focus on positive information.

What disorders can be treated with Cognitive Bias Modification?

Cognitive Bias Modification has been proven effective in treating a wide variety of psychological disorders, including anxiety, depression and addiction. Studies have shown that CBM is equally as effective as medication and talk therapy in treating anxiety, and CBM is showing strong results in the treatment of various addictive disorders.
Currently we provide apps to help you Reduce Anxiety, Quit Smoking and Eat Right.

How often should I use the CBM app for it to be effective?

Studies have shown that 10 – 15 minutes a week is effective in altering negative biases. 2 or 3 minutes per day produces optimal results. Results can be seen after 2 hours (or less) of treatment.

Are there any side effects?

No. Unlike medication or a therapist (which is detrimental to your bank balance), Cognitive Bias Modification programs have no harmful side effects.

Can I use the Bias Modification Apps on my computer?

No. Our CBM apps work only on iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation), iPod touch (5th generation) and iPad. They require iOS 5.1 or later.
